In 2011 Grace opened up the new year on Long Island visiting Oma and Opa. It was a year of snowmagedon. Grace loves carousel rides and had her first while in New York after Christmas. Chandi and Grandma Wheety took her to get new Easter shoes in April and she spotted the carousel -- insisted on at least TWO rides! She now calls Grandma "EeeEee" for "Wheety". Grandma takes care of her three days/week and spends two nights with them -- when Gar and Chandi are out in the evening, Grandma gives Gracie a bath and then the little Elf usually goes to sleep while Grandma reads. She also loves Gretel (she calls her "Gud Gurl") -- a 6 year old standard poodle adopted by the family before Christmas. Spring brought Easter and the Easter Bunny --- Grace is a beauty in pink and enjoyed hunting Easter eggs with some little friends. At 18 months she is becoming quite expert on Grandma's iPad. When she gets up in the morning she starts out with asking for "iPad, Elmo" and hops up in Grandma's lap to pick out what she wants to see. She can turn the iPad on, off, and select the YouTube and other icons for her favorite videos! Summer brought a lovely summer party with a group of children and their parents, most of whom Gar has known since they were students at the Bishop's School. Grace has also made lots of little friends at the parks in Corona del Mar, and enjoys "digging in the dirt" with them when EeeEee takes her strolling in the village. In late August, Chandi, Gar, and Grace went to Westhampton Beach, New York, for several weeks of fun with the cousins, Griffin (7) and Miriam (5) and a visit with grandparents, Oma and Opa. Gar came back to California after a couple of weeks to get the family moved to a lovely new home on Lido Island. Marguerite helped with the move and helped get things settled for when Chandi and Grace returned in early October. Christmas brought the annual Holiday Open House where Grace was the star, of course. A new baby brother is due mid-January so 2012 will be a very big year for all of us! |
